Architecture and the City Festival

We are very proud to announce that the Buena Vista Residence was selected the San Francisco chapter of the AIA as one of the houses on its annual Home Tours, a program component of the Architecture in the City Festival.

We are very flattered and excited for gb | architecture + design to be included in the program.

    

Landscape and Hardscape Complete

The last and final element of the house, before claiming being finished, is the final completion of the hardscape and hardscape in the front of the house.  We decided to go with a collection of drought tolerant plants and simple lighting to accent the plants and architecture,

Our friend Philip Vitale designed the landscape and hardscape, Solher Iron fabricated the cor-ten planter boxes, Peter Good at Goodscapes did the installation, and the custom cor-ten mailbox was designed and fabricated by Bold MFG in Austin, Texas.

And, of course, let's not forget our blue balls... we finally have a home for them.

Roof Deck Complete

With the interiors completed and after moving in, we began to focus on the exterior spaces.  The first big project was completion of the deck.  The deck is composed of 20x20 Ipe deck tiles places on a series of levelers around the deck and was installed by our friends at Steven Schneider Construction.

Following the Certificate of Occupancy, we moved into the house.  After a few weeks of settling in and unpacking, we had our good friend Sharon Risedorph photograph the interiors, a few of which are shown below.

Week 58 - Certificate of Occupancy + Move In

After many months of sleepless nights, stress and arguments - we finally have our certificate of occupancy and are allowed to move int the house.  Of all the pictures we have posted about the house and its progress, this is probably the most special and hardest earned.

Week 57 - Glass Panel

One of the final finishing touches on the interior of the house is the installation of the large 10 foot frosted glass panel at the entryway.  The glass panel acts a visual barrier between the atrium and the living/dining room.

Week 56 - Exterior Stairs + Sidewalk

With the interior slowly shaping up, this week the crews began finishing up the exterior entry stairs as well as replace and repave the sidewalk and drive way.  Since we decided to remove one of the garages on the Park Hill side of the house, we were required by the city to remove the corresponding curb cut and drive way so that the sidewalk and gutter could be extended.
